What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which people experience heightened   focus, concentration, and suggestibility. It is often described as a sleep-like state but in reality it is a state of increased attention and hyper-awareness.

In this state a professional hypnotist may use hypnotic suggestions in the form of verbal repetition and mental images designed to help with your therapeutic goals. Hypnosis has been shown to have medical and therapeutic benefits, most notably in the reduction of pain and anxiety, to help with addictions and phobias, to improve self confidence and athletic performance.

Hypnosis is often referred to as hypnotherapy or a state of hypnotic suggestibility. The physical appearance may be sleepy and very relaxed, the mind is on high alert and awareness.

People may seek out hypnosis to overcome obstacles to weight loss, to stop smoking, deal with fears and insecurities and live a more productive life.
